Wayne Macfadden MD - Treating Patients on the Spirit Lake Reservation
Wayne Macfadden, MD, is the Medical Director of International Psychiatric Services, which he co-founded with his wife Andrea. Working with Native American patients on North Dakota’s Spirit Lake Reservation, Wayne Macfadden, MD, delivered care that includes medication-assisted treatments for those with substance use disorders.
Dr. Macfadden has extensive knowledge of the connection between alcoholism, other addictions, and mental health. His substance abuse treatment practice was the ever on the Spirit Lake Reservation and was the sole suboxone treatment clinic located on an Indian Reservation statewide.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Macfadden has undertaken extensive research and development work in the area of neuroscience and ophthalmology. From 2011 to 2015, he was based in Switzerland working with Roche in R&D, and he undertook research for Novartis in Switzerland from 2015 to 2018. From 1990 to 1999, he saw patients and taught at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center and directed the Dual Diagnosis unit, while performing inpatient detoxifications. An avid traveler, Wayne Macfadden, MD, has been a member of the Swiss Fasnacht band Grachsymphoniker in Basel over the past ten years.
